The High Court ordered the Gauteng Health to provide radiation oncology services to cancer patients at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital and Steve Biko Academic Hospital. – Daily Maverick (27 March 2025)
This decision followed legal action from the Cancer Alliance, backed by SECTION27, revealing that millions allocated in March 2023 to tackle backlogs had gone unspent due to the Department’s inaction. The Judge ordered that the backlog list has to be updated within 45 days and a progress report is due in three months.
