President Cyril Ramaphosa’s spokesperson, Vincent Magwenya, confirmed that the Presidency intends to schedule a meeting with Business Unit SA (BUSA) in the first quarter of 2026 to discuss proposals previously submitted to the President. – Business Day (22 January 2026)
This follows BUSA, the largest umbrella body for organised business in SA, backing Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana’s call to cool tensions around NHI. It says it wants structured engagement with the Presidency to discuss proposals previously submitted to President Cyril Ramaphosa.
In late 2024, BUSA presented an alternative approach to NHI proposing a hybrid funding. Until recently, it appeared that this submission had been sidelined.
