Judge Benita Whitcher of the Gauteng Labour Court dismissed the application of Gauteng Health head of department Lesiba Malotana to overturn his suspension by Premier Panyaza Lesufi in October, reported The Citizen (18 Nov 2025).
The suspension followed an SIU report alleging a procurement bribery syndicate within the Gauteng Department of Health involving Malotana and other senior officials. The case forms part of broader corruption scandals in the Department, including the Tembisa Hospital probe, where over R2bn was looted.
