Parliament’s Standing Committee on Public Accounts (SCOPA) has officially launched a formal inquiry into the finances of the Road Accident Fund (RAF), reported Business Day (25 June 2025)
Following whistleblower reports and complaints alleging widespread maladministration, reckless expenditure, and serious financial misconduct, SCOPA will investigate supply chain irregularities exceeding R1bn.
According to Committee Chairperson Songezo Zibi the investigation will give everyone involved or implicated the opportunity to state their case under oath and receive a fair hearing before the committee draws its conclusions.
“The announcement of the parliamentary inquiry coincided with a dramatic legal showdown in the Pretoria High Court. RAF CEO Collins Letsoalo is currently challenging his suspension by the fund's board, which cited "insubordination" as the primary reason for his removal.
