Medical scheme accuses CMS of ‘sabotage’ and racial bias
29 Jan 2026
In a recent submission to the Council of Medical Schemes (CMS) Khandani Msibi, executive chairperson of the medical scheme administrator 3Sixty GSG, claims a deliberate campaign was mounted to dismantle Sizwe Hosmed medical scheme, one of the last remaining black‑owned schemes in SA’s multibillion‑rand medical scheme industry. –

Msibi claims that statutory manager Joe Seloane and trade union leader Irvin Jim conspired to destroy black-owned enterprises. He also accuses the CMS of having appointed an inexperienced curator who damaged member interests and demands his immediate removal.
According to Msibi, Sizwe Hosmed’s, statutory manager Joe Seloane ‘engineered’ circumstances to force a merger favourable to KeyHealth medical scheme in which Seloane apparently has business interests.
Msibi warned that if the CMS succeeds in destroying Sizwe Hosmed, it will earn the ‘dubious honour’ of being seen as destroyers of black business in the sector.
“The CMS chairperson, Musa Gumede, dismissed Msibi’s claims, noting that the issues were aired in Court when the CMS applied for curatorship and that Msibi did not participate in that process, labelling his current comments as “innuendo without any basis”. –
