Gauteng Health MEC Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko warned parents against dangerous vaccine misinformation circulating on social media, reported TimesLIVE (6 August 2025).
Speaking at the launching of a campaign to curb the spread of measles and rubella, Nkomo-Ralehoko said parents and guardians should rather consult health professionals at their nearest clinic instead of turning to TikTok or Facebook for information.
The six-week campaign, themed ‘Lifelong Protection against Measles and Rubella Disease’, follows a worrying measles outbreak in Gauteng where more than 370 cases have been confirmed in Gauteng this year. Vaccination teams will be deployed across the province at various locations including schools, shopping malls and taxi ranks.
