“At Clicks, SA’s largest listed pharmacy and beauty retailer, private label products now account for over 31% of all front shop sales. This dominance was further highlighted by a remarkable 20.5% surge in the company's private brand personal care sales by mid-2025.”
The research also revealed a new pre-shopping trend - 89% of consumers research products before making a purchase - giving retailers like Clicks and Dis-Chem a significant advantage, “As private labels solidify their hold, the mandate for legacy brands is clear: adapt and innovate, or risk being left on the shelf.”
